ecause our ultimate goal is to keep gorillas in their forest home, new arrivals to GRACE mean that conservation efforts have failed. Nevertheless, we are committed to caring for every Grauer’s gorilla that is rescued.

We are always available to help provide first responder assistance when gorillas are confiscated nearby, and we support the Congolese Wildlife Authority (ICCN), the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project, and the Fossey Fund in their rescue and emergency care operations and in transporting the gorillas to GRACE.

Lubutu arrived to GRACE suffering from severe malnutrition, dehydration, and hair loss caused by the harsh conditions in which he was kept.

A sedated Serufuli is carried from the helicopter that brought her to GRACE.
